Heat & Pressure: Getting the Perfect Transfer Every Time
Share
Temperature
Most DTF transfers apply best at 300–315°F (149–160°C). Always check the specific instructions that came with your transfers, as different materials may vary.
Pressure
Use medium-to-firm pressure. Too light and the transfer won't fully bond; too heavy and you risk damaging delicate fabrics or flattening the print.
Time
Press for 10–15 seconds for most transfers. A consistent, even press is more important than pressing longer.
Fabric Matters
- Cotton & cotton blends: easiest to work with, great results
- Polyester: lower temp (around 270–290°F) to avoid scorching
- Nylon & performance fabrics: test first — these can be tricky!
Pro Tips
- Always pre-press your garment for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles
- Use a Teflon sheet or parchment paper to protect your transfer
- Let it cool before peeling (cold peel) for best results
